Catherine's experience in watercolor extends back over 20 years. In addition to the work she produces for private collections, she offers watercolor classes to her guests at A House of Open Arms. The classes she offers are usually "plein air", meaning that instruction and painting are done outside. Since her budding-artist classes usually focus on landscapes, plein air allows the artists to better capture the subjects being painted.

Though watercolor can be a difficult medium to master, Catherine's background includes a great deal of teaching small classes of artists. Whether you are a beginning artist or have some experience, you are sure to find her classes enjoyable and productive. Most of the time, artists in her classes end the day with a small 9" x 12" piece, and are often surprised at their own abilities.

Her own work is a mixture of many types, and includes both realism and abstract works. Below are some examples of her work.

Pricing: Watercolor lessons are available for guests of A House of Open Arms only. Classes are $175 for an individual private lesson, $100 per person for a two-person class, and $75 per person for a class of three or more. Each class is a minimum of three hours of instruction and includes all materials and a critique.

Catherine Perry also sells her own artwork. Original watercolors are priced by size and range from $200 to $2,400.

A quick note on picture quality: Some monitors do not properly display color ranges. Also, pictures may fail to show the subtle variations in texture and tone that would be readily apparent in reality. As a result, the pictures throughout this site should be taken as only a rough estimate of the quality of Catherine's work. It is highly recommended that you visit with Catherine and see her work in person. If you like the pictures on the site, just wait until you see it live!
