Welcome! Catherine Perry is a St. John-based artist specializing in unique artwork for private homes on the island. Her main work includes:
The work she has produced graces homes and private collections in St. John, California, New York, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, and France. Please click on the links above to view samples of her work. Catherine established Art of Open Arms in 2006 after working as an artist in both California and Texas. Her broad experience includes not only her current work in ceramics, faux finishing, and watercolors, but also previous work in textiles, oil painting, and ink drawings. She received her BFA from James Madison University, earning top honors from the faculty in the process. In all of her work, whether commissioned or not, Catherine strives to achieve the most artistically intriguing piece possible. Seeing art as a process, her goal is to seek the input of those for whom she is creating artwork, learning about their needs and desires and incorporating them into the final product to make for a wonderfully personal and significant creation. She has a dynamic range of colors, content, and textures, producing both abstract and realistic work with great fluidity. As a result, her work is fascinating and elegantly understated, pleasing those with an artistic bent while remaining accessible and meaningful to the rest of us. Catherine shuns high-minded descriptions of her work, preferring a mix of humility and ready explanations of her thought processes. |

A quick note on picture quality: Some monitors do not properly display color ranges. Also, pictures may fail to show the subtle variations in texture and tone that would be readily apparent in reality.
